Johanka had the chance to explore Kreuzberg with Sarj — who is a co-founder of Aequa, a community for social equity that’s been based in Wedding — a space they’re now in the process of leaving. Alongside that, they focus on community-care, organizing, and group facilitation.

We started on Forsterstraße near Görli Park, made our way through Lausitzer Platz, and ended up at Oranienplatz. On our walk, we talked a little about how they see humans as the medium in their art practice. We also got into what it was like running Aequa, what they learned from that experience, and even touched on their early beginnings in radio. It was also fascinating to see just how much the space — Kreuzberg, Berlin — has shaped them, their experiments, and their initiatives.
