About the workshop
Collective organizing: full of joys, creativity, and...headaches!
For anyone with experience living, working, making art or organizing in collective structures, you know that this type of collaboration comes with a unique set of challenges.
So what are some concrete things we can implement to work together more sustainably, with more care? How can we continue to recognize and value each other's humanity, even and especially when the times get tough?
In this conversation-based interactive workshop, we will explore together tools, strategies and frameworks for working together more sustainably, ongoingly. In this context, sustainable can be taken to mean embodied, strategic, grounded-in-lineage, collapse-aware, compassionate and planning for the long haul.
The format of the workshop taps into the lived experiences of participants in the space, and the facilitator will also share some beloved practices from their own experiences working as part of and alongside many self-organized collective structures through the years. Come prepared to learn, experiment, and maybe even have a little fun.We will see what emerges in conversation based on lived experiences in the room, and Sarj will also share a collection of better practices from their own experience working in and with collectives through their Collective Compass facilitation work. The conversation will be held in English, and we can explore whisper translation options once we see the needs and offers available in the room.
Who is it for?
This workshop is for anyone who works, lives or organizes in collective structures, especially within cultural contexts. (Or for people who want to work in collective structures, but don't know how to start.) Fundamentally, it's for folks who believe another world is possible, and are doing what they can in their contexts to bring that world into being — both on a systemic level, and also in our interpersonal relationships. The design of this workshop and the way the space will be held are both rooted in my own political lineages and commitments. If you're not sure if this space is for you, feel free to write me and ask.

Access Info
The venue is wheelchair accessible and there is also wheelchair accessible toilet. All toilets including the wheelchair accessible one are about 50m from the entrance to the space.
There will be slides used as a language and visual support. You are very welcome to join the space in whatever way helps you feel most comfortable to participate actively, and we will check in at the beginning to make sure can meet as many group access needs as possible. Stimulation toys and food are very welcome in this workshop. All exercises are invitations.
